Getting here
The garden is right in the middle of Ellon, hidden behind the wall above the Health Centre. From the Square by the War Memorial, go up Schoolhill Road in front of Greens shop.
From Aberdeen: A90 north, left at the roundabout onto the B9005, into Ellon, over the bridge, right at the roundabout onto Market Street. Pay-and-display parking by the river.
From Peterhead or Fraserburgh: A90 south, exit at the A948 taking the third exit, then the A920 Castle Road at the second roundabout, following the Deer Dykes wall on your right.
Parking: free parking near the Health Centre, or carry on up Schoolhill Road and take the next right. Disabled parking is up the track past the Health Centre.
The last few minutes: follow the track to the right of the Health Centre to the corner of the high stone wall, then along with the Deer Park on your right. You will pass the 1715 Gate — worth a look through — before reaching the much larger main gates.

Coming with children
Nine acres of grass, trees to get under and ruins to look at. There is no playpark, and the Terrace has a long drop, so children need an eye kept on them up there. Baby changing is in the toilets by the Main Gate. Family events run through the year — the Halloween trail and Apple Day are the busiest.
Walking from the town centre
Ten minutes on foot from the Square. Turn right at the War Memorial, then almost immediately right again in front of Greens up Schoolhill Road, and follow the wall. It is the quickest way in and avoids the parking altogether.
